Blinded by promises of a life everlasting
Swindled by promises of resurrection
A perpetual paradise
So why take care of this life
When divinely promised another one?
Where the hell do these defaults come from?
Like a child promised candy for running errands
Like a grown man who believes in a promotion
his abject behaviour warrants
But all these divine promises are just as false
as they are untrue
Brittle and cheap as old petrified glue
In truth we've pillaged our greatest gift
One which promises of the divine undermine
The reality is that we destroy and disgrace
our greatest gift
We are only the caretakers
Of the world we pillaged
